Basket Range Wine
The names Louis & Sholto Broderick may be new to you but the Broderick family have been growing grapes and making wine in the Adelaide Hills for nearly forty years now. In 1980 their father Phil Broderick planted a small vineyard focused mainly on Bordeaux varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, grew grapes for others (such as Gareth from Gentle Folk) and made a small amount himself under the label Basket Range Wine.
Nowadays the two sons Louis & Sholto, both in their mid-to-late twenties, have taken over the vineyards, introduced organic viticulture, planted some new varietals and are putting more time and effort into the vineyard than ever. While their father Phil still produces the classic wines that he is known for, the sons are now producing their own wines under the same Basket Range Wine name but with a different label. The combination of these classic grape varietals and a more modern (read: less is more) winemaking approach makes for incredibly unique wines that drink differently to anything else in our portfolio. These are wines with great structure and backbone, but without that usual heavy-handedness that would normally take away from drinkability.
