2016 Commune of Buttons Gloria Pinot Noir
Commune of Buttons was started in 2013 by brother and sister Jasper and Sophie Button, who, with their mother, have been organically growing grapes in the Basket Range for the past 20 years.
Commune of Buttons is small and dedicated. Jasper and Sophie spend the majority of their time in the vineyard and complete all vineyard and winery processes between them. They try to bottle wines that show purity, freshness, and drinkability over all else.
Gloria is 100% Pinot Noir from Jasper and Sophie's home block. 114 clone. 100% whole bunches, pigeage (stomped on by foot), 10 day ambient maceration in open top fermenters, pressed into old barrique to mature for another season before bottling without filtration or fining.
Beautifully precise and mineral from the sandstone, sour cherry and briary fruits on the palate from picking nice and early, broader notes and width on the palate from the clay too. Earthy and generous. Layered. Stunning. Awesome.
