2023 Selection Massale Pinot Gris 20L Keg

Tasting note
Light gold in colour, our 2023 Pinot Gris is brimming with citrus, stonefruit and just a hint of toasted almond. The palate is light, dry and refreshing but the flavours are concentrated and the finish is saline and persistent. Overall the wine is balanced and nuanced.

Vintage and viticulture
The fruit was sourced from the Giffords Creek vineyard in the lower Wairau Valley in Marlborough, New Zealand. The vineyard is BioGro-certified organic and the soils there are mostly ancient alluvial riverbed with wind-blown loess. From a mass selection of clones. The 2023 growing season was pitch-perfect for this site, not suffering from any weather events or disease pressure all the way through to harvest on the 29th of March. 

Vinification
The fruit was destemmed and whole-bunch pressed into stainless steel where it underwent a cold fermentation on fine lees to retain purity of fruit and give the wine an overall ‘focus’. Once racked off its fine yeast lees the wine was lightly filtered before being kegged in November 2023. Unfined (vegan friendly). Contains minimal sulphites.
